TO MAKE AN IMPACT WHEN DISASTER STRIKES

WHAT WE DO, WE DO TOGETHER:

NETWORKING COMMUNITIES WITH THEMSELVES AND THE WIDER GLOBAL COMMUNITY WHO'D LIKE TO MAKE AN IMPACT

WHAT THE VILLAGE WILL BE DOING DIGITALLY

ABSTRACT: Through live crisis mapping updated constantly, we’ll effectively network a community in crisis with itself — and with the world.

SPECIFICS: The Village will network & provide clarity to communities in crisis before, during and after disaster strikes. Our digital members are the first wave, enabling hands-on members & financial contributors to make a difference in their wake. Here’s what you’ll be mapping as a member of the Village, both on the ground and from afar:

  • RESCUE REQUESTS: Those in need of rescue often take to social media when emergency channels are overwhelmed, live-mapping their location and confirming their info allows the Village’s on the ground Hands-On members and outside partners to perform a rescue and get them to safety.
  • SHELTERS & MEDICAL: Shelters, and urgent medical relief resources so those performing rescues can work with those who can transport rescued folks to shelters, or functioning/pop-up medical facilities. Adding and updating shelter info such as open/closed status, hours, available beds and capacity for men, women, children, animals and families, is important. *Members who want to offer temporary housing to evacuees outside disaster zones will also be on the map.
  • ROADS: Debris obstructions in roadways prevents any kind of fluid Hands-On impact from happening. Blocked roads prevent things from getting done, from utilities to supplies, nothing moves when the roads are blocked. Mapping obstructions on the ground for our Hands-On members and partners who have the equipment to remove these obstructions, is important.
  • RELIEF: Relief resource locations from ad-hoc central warehouses and working with them to constantly update their needs to satellite relief distribution hubs. People need to know where to get urgent relief resources beginning with food & water.
  • CANVASSING: Canvassing on the ground in the aftermath helps with rapid relief & recovery efforts and allows for funding to enter areas more rapidly, at scale.
  • EVERYONE TOGETHER, ALL AT ONCE: API’s for existing orgs, utilities and government responders to plug into will allow for a single fully public-facing, real-time horizontal community-led response to catastrophic incidents world-wide, 24 hours a day. With real-time GPS and incident claiming to prevent the duplication of efforts that we’ve seen in previous crises, you too will be able to update and interact with our maps.

THE TOOLS & REWARDS

  • A live global map that becomes interactive per crisis. You’ll be able to add all of the information – mentioned in what we’ll be doing digitally – to the map, and update that information on a rotating 30 minute schedule for Purpose & Impact Coin rewards and Digital Impact points.
  • A push to talk API feature to communicate with members on the ground within your organization (if you’re part of one).
  • The ability to join other members organized Digital efforts, or organize your own if you’ve got some Digital Impact Points already. *Organizing is unlocked automatically for existing orgs who onboard before launch.
  • The ability to accept contributions and donations in Impact and Purpose Coins after you’ve accumulated a set amount of points in any Impact category. *Donations are unlocked automatically for existing orgs who onboard before launch.
  • The ability to network with all members globally through an in-built social media interface skewed for organizing and responding.
  • The ability to livestream and post about your efforts. This will serve as confirmation to receive rewards in some cases.

EMPOWERING EVERYONE ON THE GROUND TO TAKE ACTION, WITH A PROPER NETWORK-OF-SUPPORT AND THE RIGHT TOOLING TO BE EFFECTIVE

WHAT THE VILLAGE WILL BE DOING ON THE GROUND

ABSTRACT: Now that our Digital teams are beginning to provide clarity through mapping, the response can go ‘Hands-On’ both during and after a crisis. With government and utility responders plugged into the mapping the entire community can respond efficiently, and rapidly, as one community.

SPECIFICS: As a Hands-On member or org, you’ll be able to respond to rescue & transport requests (specific to flood crises) road obstruction & debris removal needs, and all of the relief and rapid-recovery needs being mapped by our Digital teams, and via integrated data from other responding government agencies and organizations. More details below:

  • RESCUE: As a Hands-On member or org, (and when safe to do so) you can respond to unclaimed requests for rescue using our maps and post requests for transport. *Often times a rescue is being performed by air or boat and it’s inefficient for a rescuer to transport someone, leaving their specialty equipment unused when minutes and hours count when someone with a vehicle can do the job.
  • TRANSPORT: Those with a vehicle can respond to unclaimed requests from rescuers for transport. As a transporter you can easily locate nearby shelters and network members taking in evacuees, or urgent medical relief centers for those you’re transporting.
  • ROAD CLEARING: Anyone with a chainsaw or debris removal equipment can respond to any unclaimed road obstructions marked as ‘safe to remove’ on the map. Stepping up and removing it quite literally paves the way for relief and rapid-recovery work to begin. *Debris may be entangled with active powerlines and marked unsafe on the map.
  • RAPID RELIEF & RECOVERY WORK: With folks rescued and roads cleared, large-scale Hands-On rapid relief & recovery work can begin. And there are a lot of moving parts we won’t try and fit into this paragraph here but an integral part that supplies these moving parts, and something we’ll immediately want to identify (or set up ourselves) is at least one large central warehouse that can be used as a hub to coordinate all incoming in-kind donations of goods from our network, and from around the region surrounding a disaster zone. These central warehouses will supply our network’s satellite resource distribution hubs and volunteer coordination hubs that range widely from a huge variety of religious establishments providing emergency sheltering to pop-up mobile meal delivery operations. *Network members with large warehouse-size spaces that could be used in a crisis will be able to plug into our warehousing and satellite distribution system on the day the Impact Network apps launch. We’ll expand on this section with its own page in the near future.
  • RAPID RECOVERY: Recovery in-full can take years but more often than not some quick remediation (in the case of flooding for example) can save entire neighborhoods from total demolition.
  • CANVASSING & AWARENESS: Alongside rapid recovery response are the Village’s canvassers, deploying on the ground in the aftermath gives our network a much wider awareness of the full scale of the crisis. It also helps with more immediate rapid relief & recovery efforts and allows for short-term funding to flow into the areas hit the hardest. As Hands-On canvassing efforts on the ground grow in the wake of a crisis, other Hands-On volunteers can activate and continue the wider long-term recovery-work, at scale, for months, and sometimes years after the crisis.
  • BROADCASTING EFFORTS TO THE WORLD: Each Hands-On village member will be able to livestream and broadcast their efforts on their (or their organizations) profile page. This helps to raise awareness for the work you’re doing, and funding from the Village and through media partners who will be able to amplify your efforts to the wider world beyond the Village.

THE TOOLS & REWARDS

  • Interactive maps with immediate requests that you can claim and immediately respond to, earning you (and your org if you’re part of one) Purpose Coin, Impact Coin and Impact Points.
  • GPS that routes you around obstructions, and allows you to see all other Hands-On volunteers and responders from partner orgs & gov’s working in the same area as you.
  • A push to talk feature to communicate with other members in your organization as well as other ground response network members in your immediate area. Helping you coordinate together and share the load.
  • The ability to join other members organized Hands-On efforts, or organize your own if you’ve got some Hands-On Impact Points already. *Organizing is unlocked automatically for existing orgs who onboard before launch.
  • The ability to accept contributions and donations in both Impact Coin and Purpose Coin after you’ve accumulated a set amount of points in any Impact category. *Donations are unlocked automatically for existing orgs who onboard before launch.
  • The ability to network with all members globally through an in-built social media interface skewed for organizing and responding.
  • The ability to livestream and post about your efforts. This will serve as confirmation to receive rewards in some cases.
  • The ability to post certain needs to the map that can only be posted by being Hands-On, on the ground.
  • Canvassing tools – unlocked on an as-needed basis. Rewards are Hands-On Impact points + Impact Coin point rewards based on amount of entries.

CONTRIBUTE TO INDIVIDUAL AND ORGANIZED EFFORTS WITHIN THE NETWORK, AND ADD BOUNTIES TO MAPPED REQUESTS, INSTANTLY, FROM ANYWHERE, WITH NO MIDDLE-MAN

WHAT THE VILLAGE WILL BE DOING FINANCIALLY

ABSTRACT: With rescue, relief and recovery responses in full-swing, there are 2 ways for you financial impact heavy-hitters to make a difference. And in doing so you’ll earn yourself, or your organization Financial Impact Points.

SPECIFICS: 1. By contributing to those making an impact. All Village members will have either a linked wallet or in-app wallet created upon registration to our network after we launch our app. Those members who’ve made an impact through our app either ‘Hands-on’ or ‘Digitally’ will be able to activate an accept contributions & donation features on their member profile page allowing them to receive direct contributions toward their efforts, or to raise donation money for their organized effort. You’ll also be able to contribute in a blanket-manner to all those making an impact in a specific area within a crisis, or crisis-wide, or globally and choose how you want those funds dispersed: daily, weekly or over a custom period of time.

2. Instead of contributing to those making an impact directly, you can flip the map and see all of the requests from those in need of help. And you can add Purpose Coin bounties to requests globally, per crisis, per area within a crisis, or per request, and choose how you want those funds dispersed: daily, weekly or over a custom period of time.

In contributing like this you become a vital active member of the 3rd branch of the Village itself. Bolstering and drumming on all village efforts in a way that you see fit.

THE TOOLS & REWARDS

  • The ability to stake Purpose and earn Impact Coin (for a period after our chain launches).
  • The ability to see and contribute to everyone making an impact either globally, per crisis, or within specific areas in a crisis zone. Or to add Purpose to requests for help as mentioned in the previous section. Contributing will net you back 2x the amount of Purpose or Impact you contributed, in Financial Impact points. 100% of the coins you allocate or contribute go to recipients.
  • The ability participate in Village governance. (See the governance page)
  • The ability to run for National and Global Financial Impact leadership positions within the Village after you reach a certain threshold of Financial Impact points.
